Comparative Analysis of PET, PTT and PBT Yarns Hydrolyzed by Alkali

Alkaline hydrolysis is a useful method for enhancing properties of polyesters. In this study, the alkali three polyester filament yarns (poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), poly(trimethylene (PTT) and poly(butylene (PBT)) was comparatively investigated under various conditions such as concentration, solvent mixture, process duration temperature. The weight loss different evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy used morphological evaluation samples. Tenacity also determined hydrolyzed yarns. While effect contions on PET highest, that PBT lowest. lost nearly their half at 100 % ethanol, PTT almost all were completely degraded. showed fewest diameter percentages above 30 ºC. highest tenacity similar values.
